Meet Amy, the woman behind Personality Plates

Fresh out of college, I landed my dream job at CNN in Atlanta. A few years later I had the career, the marriage, the life I thought I wanted—but something was missing. I had left behind my CNN family for a generic sales job in the suburbs, and while I may have been married, I still awoke each morning to the weight of loneliness, knowing I was no longer a priority. I was left searching for something that would have meaning, when a friend invited me to her pottery class. Those quiet evenings in the studio, surrounded by amazing women, quickly became my sanctuary and where I created what would eventually become Personality Plates®.

Life has taught me that sisters come in all forms. They're the friends who knew us before we knew ourselves, and the ones who arrive precisely when we need them most. They're the colleagues who become confidantes, understanding exactly why we're crying in our car during lunch break. Some stories change us forever. In 1959, my mother faced breast cancer at just 18 years old. In a time when diagnoses were whispered about, if discussed at all, she faced this challenge with quiet grace and extraordinary courage.

Her journey inspired the Sisters in Pink Collection—a celebration of strength, resilience, and the power of supporting one another. Each plate honors not just my mother’s story, but every woman who has faced life’s challenges with determination and hope.

A portion of proceeds from this collection supports the Georgia Alliance for Breast Cancer, helping ensure no woman faces her journey alone. Our commitment to giving back doesn’t stop there. Each year, we partner with organizations that uplift and support women of all ages, because empowering women isn’t just part of our business—it’s part of our purpose.

We do want to be transparent: while the product itself is eco-conscious, we currently use Styrofoam in shipping to protect the plates in transit. We’re always looking into better options, and we appreciate your understanding as we work toward more sustainable packaging.
